The British Video Game Factory

What makes a video game British?

Is there any way to define criteria for Britishness in video games?

At the Alpe-Adria University in Klagenfurt (Austria) students investigate the possible definitions and approaches how Britishness can be found in video games. This project is a game protoype about the exporting British industry. The avatar collects British products, investigates preferences of delivered countries and modifies the products, accordingly.

As first inspiration we, the developing students, took some inspiration from the McDonalds Video Game. A simulation game which allows to observe and identify very quickly the political and economic challenges in a „McDonalds – like“ business.

For the first prototype we made use of Unity material, also in order to investigate the role of aesthetic game design in a further step.
